Community Gardening Day

A great group of families came out on Saturday to Longfellow Elementary’s gardens for some gardening fun! Mrs. Jackson, the Outdoor Teacher at Longfellow, lead the families in planting some wildflower seeds. Ms. Jackson taught the children how to spread the seeds in the wind and then “tuck them into bed” by stepping on the ground to press them into the dirt. ┬áThe kids then watered the seeds while checking out interesting bugs and butterflies. Some families stuck around to help spread some mulch and dig in the dirt. Everyone had a great time being outside, learning about nature and giving back to their community. ┬áMrs. Jackson has a magical way of engaging children and making nature fun and accessible. A special thanks to Ms.Jackson for donating her time and to all the families who came!
