Linkwood Park Update

The Friends of Linkwood Park is excited to announce its renovation groundbreaking December 2017!  The first phase construction plans include:  new entry with tile columns, playground fencing, all new playground equipment including playhouses, specific structures designed for 5-12 and 2-5 year olds, and new swings.  Should bidding for these items come in under budget, a redesigned community center front porch area serves as first alternate, complete with front drainage improvements, landscaping, irrigation, and site furniture.  Alternate 2 is an open air covered pavilion added to the south side of the community center, where the current swing set exists.  Depending on bids, both alternates could be completed in phase one construction.

All pavers, benches and other commemorative items must be purchased by September 1st to be installed.  Visit http://www.houstonparksboard.org/projects/linkwood_park
to view the wonderful array of ways to commemorate your support and show your commitment to the community.   Use your custom message to honor a loved one, give recognition to your business or organization, or simply to provide encouragement to those who visit Linkwood Park.  Custom pavers are one of the most popular ways to support the project:  8×8 Paver – $250.00 and 4×8 Paver – $150.00.
All donations to the Houston Parks Board, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.  General, non-personalized donations can be mailed to:

$500k in Greenspace Funds Earmarked for Linkwood Park

Friends of Linkwood Park is excited to announce construction plans underway at Linkwood Park!  In a meeting Tuesday evening of Houston Parks Board, Houston Parks and Recreation, and the Friends of Linkwood Park board, it was announced $500,000 in greenspace funds have been earmarked to the Linkwood Park renovation project.  Representatives of both Houston Parks Board and HPARD stated it was the support of the community, shown through donations to the project and park activity, as well as the support of Council Member Green through District K’s $37,000 in Council Service Request awards, that convinced leaders to allocate the greenspace funds to Linkwood Park.

Lauren Griffith Associates, Landscape Architecture and Planning, is contracted to lead the design plan and implementation.  During Tuesday’s meeting, Ms. Griffith led a presentation and discussion on design plans, utilizing the original renovation plans developed by Friends of Linkwood Park and Houston Parks Board.  The estimated timeline for the project is one year for survey/design and one year for construction.  Friends of Linkwood Park would like to thank the neighbors of this amazing Braeswood community and Council Member Green and the District K staff for the ongoing support of Linkwood Park that has made these next steps possible.
